In this post: This modern farmhouse fall wreath was made for autumn…but it can be customized for just about any season…or none at all!

I don’t make wreaths very often around here. I’m actually not sure why. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But this pretty modern farmhouse fall wreath is one of my favorites! Check out how to make it below.

How to Make a Modern Farmhouse Fall Wreath

With only a few supplies, that are mostly readily available, you can make this fall wreath in about a half hour or less!

*Note: if you can’t find pumpkin picks, you could wire your own by inserting floral wire into foam/faux pumpkins. 

Instructions

Start with the Lambs Ear

1. Start by laying 4 Lambs Ear Picks on metal hoop to gauge spacing. Three Lambs Ear Picks will face upwards (as if they were growing upwards). The bottommost Lambs Ear Pick is placed in the opposite direction (as if they were growing sideways).

2. Attach one Lambs Ear Pick to metal hoop by wrapping floral wire around the stem in two places. Wrap the wire around the stem and ring 2-3 times. Twist the ends of the floral wire together like the twist ties on a loaf of bread.

3. Attach one Lambs Ear Pick facing the opposite direction, overlapping the stems.

4. Attach the remaining 3 Lambs Ear Picks to the steel ring.

Now the Eucalyptus

5. Snip apart Eucalyptus Picks using wire cutters. I used 4 sprigs of Eucalyptus which is 1 Pick and 1 cutting from a second Pick. Add more Eucalyptus if want a fuller wreath. Attach with floral wire in between the Lambs Ear Picks.

And the Astilbe Bush

6. Snip apart 3 branches of the Astilbe Bush Pick using wire cutters. Attach a sprig near the top, middle, and bottom.

Next comes the berry picks

7. Pull apart the Cream & Brown Berry Pick creating two sprigs. Attach 1 near the bottom and one sprig about 1/3 near the top.

And the pumpkins

8. Bend pumpkin stems so the pumpkins can “sit” on the wreath when attached. Attach a Large Pumpkin Pick first. Then attach smaller pumpkin picks on each side.

Bonus Tip:

You could also leave the pumpkins off for a non-seasonal wreath. Or add spring florals or winter berry picks for different seasons!

9. Add a Jute Rope loop to hang the wreath. I used a 12” piece of rope.

The pumpkins are lightweight, but they are the heaviest feature on the wreath. Tying the Jute Rope Hanger in the correct place is key. Otherwise, the weight of the pumpkins will make the wreath turn and the pumpkins will hang at the bottom.

To keep the wreath upright with the pumpkins off to one side: Determine the spot on the wreath that should be the top. This is where you will tie the rope hanger. Thread one end of the jute rope under a leaf, around stems and steel ring. Bring that end all the way around until it is even with the other end of the rope. Tie a tight knot around the wreath. Take the remaining two ends of the rope and tie them into a knot creating your loop. Trim any excess rope.

10. Trim any excess floral stems with wire cutters that poke out awkwardly or hinder the wreath from hanging flat against the surface. Tuck under or trim any excess floral wire.

Modern Farmhouse Fall Wreath Tips:

• Floral wire: When tying stems to the steel ring, wrap the wire around the stems 2-3 times. The wire needs to be tight in order to keep the stems from sliding.
• The benefit of only using floral wire is the ability to rearrange pieces or re-use these materials next season if you want to make a different craft with the same look and feel.
• Floral tape and hot glue can also be used to make this wreath.
• Pumpkins: It took me several attempts to get the wire tight enough to hold the pumpkins in place. If you’re not able to tie them tight enough to stay in position, cut the stems off and use hot glue to adhere them. The pumpkins may not be reusable after using hot glue on them.
