Transfer Talk: Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal all eye Guehi

The summer transfer window is still a way from reopening in Europe, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Four-way battle for Palace ace Guehi

Four rival Premier League clubs are set to battle it out for the signature of Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi, according to the Telegraph.

Liverpool and Manchester United are believed to be keen to build their defences around the 23-year-old, while there has also been interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

The Eagles are reported to be willing to move him on this summer but, with just two years remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park, they are expected to demand an offer worth in excess of the club-record £50 million fee that they received in the deal that saw Aaron Wan-Bissaka join Man United in 2019.

Palace are said to currently be assessing options in Europe for potential replacements for Guehi, with Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera, Peterborough United‘s Ronnie Edwards and Leicester City’s Harry Souttar all previously linked with a move to south London.

Guehi is facing some time on the sidelines following knee surgery. He has made 22 appearances in the Premier League this season.

PAPER GOSSIP

– A number of Saudi Pro League clubs will make fresh bids for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, says Rudy Galetti. Both Al Hilal and Al Ittihad are believed to be interested in the 31-year-old, who was the subject of intense transfer speculation last summer. Salah has remained a leading player for the Reds this season, with 15 goals and nine assists in 21 Premier League games.

– Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Arsenal midfielder Jorginho, reports Sport. The Blaugrana expect to be limited in their transfer activity this summer as they look to remain aligned with Financial Fair Play, and they are reported to be looking at potential free agent signings to provide an option in the No. 6 position. Jorginho, 32, is yet to agree to terms on a new deal at the Emirates, and the latest indicates that he could be offered the chance to make the switch to LaLiga.

– Bayern Munich are prioritising handling the contract situations of midfielders Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala, according to Fabrizio Romano. Kimmich, 29, will enter the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena this summer, and recent reports have indicated that he could be willing to go in search of a new challenge away from the Bundesliga. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Musiala has recently been linked with both Manchester City and Liverpool, and it looks as though Bayern’s hierarchy are keen to ensure that they make him a long-term part of their future project.

– Two clubs in Serie A are in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, writes Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo. Contact is said to have already been made by Napoli in January, while a potential move to Juventus could hinge on whether coach Massimiliano Allegri remains at the club. Hojbjerg, 28, has previously been linked with Atletico Madrid.

– Everton are interested in Hull City defender Jacob Greaves, according to the Mirror. The Toffees are reported to see the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for starter Jarrad Branthwaite, who has been linked with a potential move away from the club. Greaves has made 35 appearances for the Tigers in the Championship this season, where he has contributed to six goals.

– Inter Miami CF are exploring a move for Corinthians and Paraguay international midfielder Matías Rojas, according to the Athletic. The 28-year-old, who has earned 18 caps with Paraguay, is believed to be on the MLS side’s radar, though a move could depend on whether a resolution is found over Rojas’ ongoing contract dispute, which could allow them to sign him as a free agent. A move for Rojas would strengthen Inter Miami’s midfield further after they recently secured a deal for Federico Redondo.
