Transfer Talk: Man City eye Guimarães, Luiz and Kimmich

We still have some time before the summer transfer window reopens in Europe, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip is swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Man City interested in Guimarães, Kimmich and Luiz

Manchester City are prioritizing Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães as they look for a midfielder but are also looking at Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, as has been reported by AS.

The aim is to sign somebody who can act as a companion for Rodri, who has long been established as a key player in Pep Guardiola’s side. Speaking about Guimarães in a press conference, Guardiola said: “Exceptional holding midfielder; aggressive, with the ball he has pause, in set pieces he is aggressive. Now Newcastle wants to grow and I am quite sure that it is part of their project for the next few years, definitely.”

AS claim that City have already made contact with the 26-year-old’s entourage in order to get things moving in their attempts to sign him. Man City are even willing to pay the Brazil international’s €117m release clause and could look to turn that into three payments of just over €39m, although there is expected to be plenty of competition to sign him.

Liverpool and Chelsea have also made efforts to sign Guimarães in the past and are expected to return for him in the summer, while Manchester United could also make a move. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested while Guimarães dreams of playing for Barcelona, although they only have €80m and would need to offload players to sign him.

– Liverpool are very keen to sign Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, claims Football Insider, who add that Manchester City are also interested in the 21-year-old. Bayern have no intentions of letting the Germany international leave and are demanding £100m, even though Musiala has two years remaining on his contract and has turned down proposals for a renewal.

– Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, according to Football Insider. The 25-year-old will be available for £85m and the two Premier League clubs are expected to face competition to sign the Sweden international with his Sporting tally having already reached 33 goals and 13 assists.

– Lazio could decide to let Ciro Immobile leave during the summer transfer window, reports Calciomercato, with the 34-year-old not matching his previous prolificacy having scored 10 goals across all competitions so far this term. Saudi Arabia could be an option after they showed an interest in signing Immobile last summer.

– Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi is Juventus’ priority as they look to sign a goalkeeper in the summer but La Dea want at least €40m for the 23-year-old, reports Tuttosport, who add that Porto’s Diogo Costa and Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio are seen as possible alternatives. This comes with I Bianconeri’s current goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny, Mattia Perin and Carlo Pinsoglio all having contracts that are set to end in 2025.

– Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on a deal to sign Rochdale’s Mateus Mane for their academy, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 16-year-old was first called up to a matchday squad in the National League in February and Wolves are now finalising the details of a deal to bring him in.
